My friend lives in a railway arch in South London and it is an ever evolving space. I have taken lots of photos of the place over the last 5 years. Unfortunately the pics I have taken when he first moved in are stuck on a broken laptop. Here are a few more recent ones...

I heard this piece of music last night by Rondo Veneziano and I thought it had echoes of the Twin Peaks theme by Angelo Badalamenti. Am I wrong? Always worth a watch. Best intro ever. I think I have been inspired by Barry Mcgee! Bereft of inspiration I have been using my time to become reaquainted with pure colour combinations with these works on board. I haven't yet found the right colour palette yet so I shall continue, however it is quite time consuming, but better then doing nothing. It at least brightens the studio up and makes me feel happier to be there.
Being born in the late 70's I can only imagine the unnerving atmosphere of the dark decade that produced the public information films that were made to scare children into behaving themselves. This 1977 film produced by British Transport Films goes a little too far and the body count is probably higher than all those films put together. There is some light relief at the end where some of the children struggle to play dead and reposition their 'lifeless' bodies. Read more about it in this proper article here. SO we had the amazing Kate Tempest down at the last minute Big Dada Disco at The Gun Club last night and she made it one of those life affirming parties. Her band were banging and she was on top form after a big week for her, at times she looked quite overwhelmed with happiness. Being nominated for The Mercury Music Award and named as one of 2014's Next Generation Poets will do that. Most of the footage I shot has really blown out audio, as you can hear after she bigs up South London and we all go wild. Coz South London rulez right? She's on tour in November, and if this is a taste of what's to come - don't miss her at your nearest venue. Just don't.
Young Fathers, Brilliant. Different, Loud. As you can see, I'm no music critic. They were awesome and I loved seeing them in such an intimate space. They've got their own thing going on and a real presence. Brilliant night and a big up to all the drummers in both bands. They smashed it. |
